Editor’s Comment: These findings underscore that not all (nor even most) reported influenza-like illnesses (ILI) are actually the flu. Earlier reporting from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicated that less than 30% of ILI cases turn out to be influenza.
Also According to CDC,”rhinovirus outbreaks are common in the fall, (but) the outbreak that occurred this year was unusually large and resulted in a lot of hospital admissions.” Bottom Line: The common cold is thriving and in circulation, and its enough to make you ILI.
